Matt the Entrepreneur
7 years ago, I graduated from University with a languages degree.
Finding a relevant job was incredibly hard, and I had to sign on for the Job Seeker’s Allowance, AKA ’The Dole’.
I was down in the dumps, unsure of my future and most alarmingly of all, starting to settle for mediocrity!
A year and a half later — thanks to help from friends, a big collection of dog-eared books, an ancient laptop, some lessons learned, and a good dose of luck — I had sold my first company.
It wasn’t life-changing money by any stretch of the imagination, but it got me hooked on something empowering. Freedom to choose.
Working for myself meant that I could walk my own path, build my own dreams, rather than being a pawn in someone else's game, working to achieve their aspirations rather than my own.
Now I’m the Co-founder of a highly successful startup called Quuu. I live in Bristol, England, and I can work remotely from anywhere in the world, whenever it suits me best.
I’ve always valued the ability to work remotely, and my social media presence is basically the story of where I choose to spend my time working, travelling and living the life I want to lead.
If I were to pass on any of the limited wisdom that I possess in life so far, it would be to spend the time you have wisely, on your own dreams, not someone else’s. And most importantly, don't leave yourself with any regrets, whether that’s with work, people or your dreams.
I hope you’ll join me on social and we can all share our experiences.
